My name is Edward J Jones.
I was born in the Stouthall Maternity Hospital at Reynoldston on the Gower.. Whether that makes me a little posher than saying I was born in Morriston in the Swansea valley I don't know but I doubt it as Morriston is where I grew up.

Though I should say right off that my first 4 years were spent with my parents at my Grandmother's home in Duesseldorf, Germany. It was only after my younger brother was born in 1954 that we moved back to Morriston in South Wales.

My memories of Germany at that time are understandably pretty vague but there are a few, and there are pictures from that time HERE.

I started my schooling in Caersalem Chapel at Mynyddbach and went on to Clase Junior and Pentrepoeth Sec Mod until I left at age 15 yrs.

This was 1964 and the family decided to move back once again to Germany.

My parents and siblings remained in Germany for some years, in fact my parents stayed untill well after my fathers retirement. My brother moved away and now lives in Scandinavia and my sisters have settled in other countriies too.

After obtaining my qualification as a carpenter I decided to travel, it was the "Flower Power" era and what was more "revolutionary" at that time than to travel, and to do that in the cheapest way possible. So, off I went with my few belongings and a sleeping bag and headed off first into the Mediteranean sun, I won't go into much detail but suffice to say I travelled extensively and actually met my first wife whilst on my travels... Since then ofcourse I have settled down had 3 marriages and 4 children.................

Which brings me to the present and why this website and research into my family history.

I guess my interest in family history was first brought to the surface during my first marriage... my "then" wife was an Anglo Indian, her Grandmother was born in Southamton England, her father came from Burma but had the surname "Penn", as you can imagine, the name intrigued me and I wanted to find out where her ancestors actually came from, but young and too busy with "life" I let it go. Now I'm in my 3rd marriage (A happy one) and my dear wife is an American, hailing from California, and stranger than strange her maiden name was "Jones"......... Well I had to find out didn't I? Are we related in some dark and distant past? Of course it's highly unlikely but it got me started in Genealogy and family research.

And that's me my friends........... Hope you have fun browsing my website.
About This Website.

My wife and I started our research into our Families histories back in 1998. As I enjoyed experimenting and learning coding to make webpages I decided fairly early that it would be nice to record our research as far as possible in online digital format. My first attempt was pretty amatuerish and can be viewed HERE, although there has been some updating the site still retains the look and feel I created back in 1999 when I first placed it online.

Since that time our database has grown together with our knowledge and my coding expertese. Though I don't claim perfection in any sense of the word and "Expertese" should be taken with toungue in cheak lol.

Through the years I have created several websites, abandoned most and have finally come to rest here at GenesRus.org. This site carries much of the information we have gathered over the years either within the site pages or from links on those pages.

The site proclaims also to having pictures which may be of interest to historians as well as Genealogists, these pictures are not connected to my family's history directly but I placed them here because they are interesting.

There is a certain amount of commercialism on the site too.... Please forgive me for this, it helps pay the bills incurred by hosting such a huge site.

So with that said I leave you to surf as you please, I would appreciate some feed back via our Guest Book.

Thanks & God Bless

John Jones.
